This is the first week we’ve actually gotten it together and posted the adds! Awesome. Here’s a little run-down of the top records we put out this week; everything’s available in the rotation racks in the station for your enjoyment and appreciation:
Top 200:

Mirah - (a)spera
As always, Mirah has an absolutely beautiful voice that immediately wins you over. This album balances minimalist orchestrations with more ambitious ones. Songs showcase her vocals yet remain varied and interesting. This is a great record. LISTEN.

Black Lips - 200 Million Thousand
Garage rock album reminiscent of early Brian Jonestown Massacre or rougher ‘60’s rock. Less interesting and more slickly produced than Good Bad Not Evil; no real standout tracks.

Polka Dot Dot - Love Letter to New Zealand
Olympia supergroup that formed during a tour of New Zealand. Rich harmonies and solid, nicely simplistic music.

Julie Doiron - I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day
Woke Myself Up followup feels less folksy and domestic, with much heavier guitarwork and Doiron’s devastating vocals driving the material. Almost anti-folk, but great.

Bonnie “Prince” Billy - Beware
Will Oldham follows what was his most country album in years with his most country album in years, complete with big backup singers and pedal steel. It doesn’t feel quite like the baffling Sings Greatest Palace Music, and the atmospherics are intact, but I’m still a little confused.
RPM/Electronica:

Bell Orchestre - As Seen Through Windows
Lovely, ambient orchestra music.
Hip Hop:

Lady Sovereign - Jigsaw
Shades of M.I.A. pervade a pretty damn good record that’s both pop-friendly and genre-defying.

Carvelli - The Movement
Carvelli, a “soldier of the movement,” raps about hard work and making it out of hard times. Beats are unique and cool.
Check them out.
